The TeleCasts Manager feature allows admins to add external TeleCast 2 encoders to the HyperCaster for system health monitoring and associating to a Channel for automating turning streaming destinations on and off and streaming rights management to blackout certain events on streaming outputs. Destinations from managed TeleCast 2 streaming encoders will display in the Streaming Destinations configuration page including whether that destination is active along with a manual on/off slider. Destinations from managed TeleCast 2 streaming encoders are available to use when creating Streaming Rules and per-event streaming automation. With linked TeleCast 2 encoders, Series, Live Sources, and Live Events allow setting an option to blackout the event on the stream and instead display a slate. The slate can be configured on each TeleCast 2 streaming encoder.
Managing TeleCasts
Admins can manage TeleCast 2 streaming encoders by clicking Config → Streaming → TeleCasts.
From the Manage TeleCasts table, you can access several actions:
- To add a new TeleCast 2 encoder, click the add
action.
- To edit an existing TeleCast 2 encoder or see additional status information, click the edit
action or click the Name field.
- To delete a TeleCast 2 encoder, click the delete
action.
- To open the TeleCast 2 native user interface in another browser window, click the launch
action.
When adding and editing TeleCast 2 encoders, you will be presented with the TeleCast form.
The TeleCast form fields are as follows:
- Name: Enter a name for the TeleCast 2 streaming encoder.
- Description: Enter a description for the TeleCast 2 streaming encoder.
- IP Address: Enter the IP Address of the TeleCast 2 streaming encoder. The IP Address must be reachable on the network by the HyperCaster.
- Username: Enter the username for the TeleCast 2 used to login.
- Password: Enter the password for the TeleCast 2 used to login.
- Channel: Select the channel that is the input source to the TeleCast 2 so channel streaming automation rules can trigger the associated encoder.
- Disable API Access?: Check this box to disable all communication between the HyperCaster and TeleCast 2. This can be used to make changes through the TeleCast 2 user interface and avoid having the HyperCaster override those changes.
The form will also show TeleCast 2 status including input Signal Locked (the input source present), whether a slate is enabled or disabled, and a list of available destinations and whether they are active.
Click Save to save your changes. The TeleCasts Health Criteria under System Health will alert if a managed TeleCast 2 streaming encoder loses input signal, or cannot be reached.
