Mapping the HyperCaster to Your Desktop

In order to upload content to the HyperCaster, you’ll want to map the HyperCaster’s media share (vol1) to a computer, or multiple computers, on your network. This is done using the CIFS/SMB protocol. By default, the system uses the SMB v1 protocol. For SMB v2 protocol, see Enabling SMB v2 below.

OS X

  1. Open Finder and go to Go > Connect to Server…
  2. Type in smb://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/vol1, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the HyperCaster.
  3. Choose to connect as a Registered User.
  4. Enter psguser in the Name and Password fields.
  5. Optional: Check the Remember this password in my keychain checkbox.
  6. Click Connect.

Windows 10

  1. Open File Explorer and select This PC.
  2. Click the Map Network Drive button in the ribbon menu at the top, then select Map network drive.
  3. Select the drive letter you want to use for the network folder.
  4. In the Folder box, enter \\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\vol1, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of the HyperCaster.
  5. Optional: Check Reconnect at sign-in.
  6. Check Connect using different credentials.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. When prompted, enter psguser for the username and password. Check the Remember my credentials checkbox and click OK.

Windows 7

  1. Clicking the Start button and then click on Computer.
  2. Click Map Network Drive.
  3. In the Drive list, click any available drive letter.

Enabling SMB v2

If you are unable to map the HyperCaster to your desktop, your computer may require connection to the HyperCaster using SMB v2. To enable SMB v2 access in the HyperCaster, follow these steps:

  1. From a web browser, log in to your HyperCaster.
  2. Navigate to the Config tab.
  3. Under Server choose Samba.
  4. Check the Use SMB v2 checkbox.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Attempt to map the drive again.
