How to Create an Instant Replay

Adding Instant Replay clips to your GoToAir Live Production involves some coordination between the GoToAir Director application and the GoToAir Replay application.  For your planning purposes, here is a workflow chart.

Before the Event

In GoToAir Replay

In GoToAir Director

1. Set up GTA Replay cameras, making sure they are set to Record. 1. Upload transition animations, if you haven’t already done so.
2. Create and appropriately name Regions of Interest (ROIs) where important action is likely to occur. 2. Connect GoToAir Replay to GoToAir Director by entering the IP address of the laptop that has GoToAir Replay on it in Source Settings.

During the Live Production

In GoToAir Replay

In GoToAir Director

1. When you see a replay-worthy moment, double-click on that camera window or press the corresponding Number key to see it in the main Preview window.
2. Use the Slider (see #16 in diagram of main application screen) to scrub through the recording and find the start of the replayable moment. (As soon as you move the slider, that source is no longer live, and will go into playback mode.)
3. Mark that inpoint with a time tag. (Ctrl + T) Name the tag. Hit Enter.
4. (If you want to pre-set a different playback speed, you can do that before taking the Replay clip to air. Select the tag to play the clip and use the (+) or (-) keys to adjust playback speed. The playback speed can only be set or changed while the clip is playing.)
5. When ready to take the Replay clip to air, select the tag from the tag menu. 6. Switch to the GoToAir Replay Source. This will:

  • Automatically trigger the “Replay” animation.
  • Take the GoToAir Replay output.
7. To play the chosen Replay clip, Press the P key or click the Play arrow. (You can still vary the speed while the clip is playing.)
8. When the Replay is finished, switch back to a Live source. This will automatically trigger the “Live” animation.
(8a. The “Live” animation can also be triggered by switching to any Live camera in GoToAir Replay.)
